PURPOSE OF A SPECIAL “CONCRETE” INSPECTOR
CONCRETE DEPUTY INSPECTOR OBJECTICES
1) Reinforcement Verification: Inspects rebar size, spacing, structural placement, and clear cover before the pour to ensure the concrete and steel composite structure can handle design loads.
2) Preventing Voids and Honeycombing: Monitors proper consolidation techniques (such as mechanical vibration) to eliminate air pockets that severely weaken the concrete matrix.
3) Managing Environmental Factors: Evaluates sub-grade conditions, concrete temperature, and weather extremes to prevent premature drying, cracking, or reduced ultimate compressive strength.
4) Material Quality Control: Verifies delivery tickets, performs field tests (slump, air content, temperature), and oversees the creation of test cylinders for strength verification.
